Traveling Event Sales Team (Contractor)

Company: We Geek Together
Home Base: Provo, Utah
Job Type: Independent Contractor (1099)
Compensation: Up to $200/day (based on experience)

The Job

We Geek Together is looking for energetic, geeky people to join our events team. We spend our weekends traveling to Comic Cons, Renaissance Faires, and Celtic Festivals across the Western United States, setting up shop and selling geeky goods to fellow fans.

Our booth is full of fun inventory, including leather armor, cloaks, engraved coasters, D&D scented candles, dice, plushies, and more. We need people who genuinely love this stuff and can share that excitement with customers.

You'll be working hard, but you'll be doing it surrounded by people who love the same fandoms you do.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Travel: Our team is based in Provo. You will travel with us to events on weekends. Some are local (Salt Lake, Provo, Ogden), but many require travel to California, Nevada, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, or Colorado.
  • Setup & Teardown: We build a store from scratch at every event. You'll help unload the trailer, set up tents, build displays, and pack it all back up when the show ends.
  • Selling: You are the face of the business. You'll be standing, smiling, demonstrating products, and helping customers find the perfect loot.
  • Transactions: You'll handle cash and card payments on our Point of Sale system.

A Note on Schedule: Our events are usually weekend commitments, and some of our larger conventions are week-long trips.

Requirements

  • High Constitution Score: This is a physical job. You need to be able to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly (boxes of inventory are heavy!) and have the stamina to be on your feet and "on" for a full day of selling.
  • Weekend Availability: Most of our work happens Thursday through Sunday (sometimes Monday). We need people with flexible weekend schedules.
  • Reliability: We work on tight logistics. We need team members who show up on time and ready to go.
  • Charisma: We want people who are fun to talk to. If you can strike up a conversation about a Paladin build or an Anime plot arc with a stranger, you'll fit right in.

2026 Schedule Highlights

We have a full calendar for 2026. We don't expect you to work every single show, but we are looking for people available for the big trips. Here is a sample of where we are heading:

  • Utah Events: FanX, Dragonsteel, Utah Renaissance Faire, LTUE, SaltCon, Utah Mid-Summer Renaissance Festival, Dickens Festival, and various local markets.
  • Out of State: WonderCon (Anaheim), Pirate Fest (Las Vegas), Fan Expo (Denver), Phoenix Fan Fusion, Montana Renaissance Festival, San Diego Comic-Con, and the Idaho Renaissance Faire.

Compensation & Logistics

  • Pay: After a training period at $125 per day, you'll be paid up to $200 for every day you are selling at the booth, and half for days where we are just traveling to or from a location.
  • Travel Costs: We cover transportation and lodging for away shows.
  • Entry: We cover your badge/entry for the festival or convention. (Note: You will be working the booth during the event, so you won't have much free time to wander, but you still get to soak up the atmosphere!)
